Whew! We’ve got the website launched. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s easy. We’ve had lots of meetings and calls, heard plenty of opinions and tweaked the site a bunch of times. Now it's your call.  We hope it's useful, fun and effective. We want you to come back for news you can use . . . to get Kentuckians health coverage —and get Kentucky healthy.

Pulling it together gave me a chance to work with some great Kentucky Voices leaders: the children’s advocates all pitched in for the Covering Kids page. Heart, Lung and Cancer gave us wonderful background on the Tobacco Tax. And they shared terrific pix, like the kid you’ll find there. What’s he thinking?

Check the Research page. You’ll find your way into tons of facts and figures about health in Kentucky. We had yeoman work on it from Bob Gray, the coalition’s policy consultant. He spent years writing bills as a legislative staffer and now works as a consultant with groups from the Chamber, to the Prichard Committee to us. His main contribution to Kentucky Voices: researching our policy briefs.  We think that brief on KCHIP enrollment had some impact!

Want data on health, right where you live? The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky let us link to their new resource Kentucky Health Facts. And Kentucky Health Facts researcher Sarah Walsh helped us build several of our Weekly Polls around real opinion surveys. Cast your vote on the Home Page and check your opinion against what the public said.

Other favorites: Our first link to YouTube comes from Patrick Jeffreys. On our Advocates’ Toolkit page, you can watch the “School House Rock” lesson on how a bill becomes law. (Or do you already know the song? “I’m just a bill . . . sitting here on Capitol Hill.”)  Patrick is our new Project Director. He’s been out around the state meeting people who care about health care and telling them about our initiatives. If you’d like him to come your way, or speak to your group, just email patrick@kyvoicesforhealth.org or call 502-229-8883.

Meanwhile, how does the site look?

I think this site is looking good. And will only improve with time.
